Known as a social media platform that rates and reviews local businesses Yelp devotes its pages to restaurants, schools, and local businesses where the users submit their reviews and ratings about that business. This feature will also help the users supporting diverse businesses reach out to them on Yelp. According to Yelp's Local Economic Impact Report, global research for women, Asian, Black, and Latin X-owned businesses increased by 2,930% from February of the previous year. This attribute will be an opportunity for businesses on the platform to distinguish themselves from others. In addition to Asian property, other attributes are owned by women, Black-owned, Latinx-owned, etc.

In October 2020, Yelp had also introduced a “business accused of racist behaviour" consumer alert followed by a temporary halt to the new reviews so that those business profiles are not flooded with non-customer reviews discussing what the business was accused of.

Not only Yelp but Google also is set to add this business profile attribute to the google my business profiles. Along with Black-owned business attributes, veteran-led and women-led attributes will also be available for the GMB profile owners.
